South Molton Street in Mayfair is our first choice of location for Treasures of Brazil’s pop up shops.

In this blog post, we’ll tell you a little about the history of this exclusive street, why we love it so much and when you can find us here.

Where is South Molton Street?

South Molton Street is located just off Oxford Street in Mayfair, London, and is well known for being an exclusive shopping hub full of luxury shops and independent boutiques.

With the infamous Oxford Street and Bond Street right around the corner, South Molton Street really is a shoppers’ paradise.

History of South Molton Street

In the 1720s, the area was developed by the Grosvenor family.

During the 18th century, following the plague of 1665 and the great fire of 1666, London underwent a significant period of rapid development and the Grosvenor family played a huge part in this.

South Molton Street formed the edge of the Mayfair estate, connecting Oxford Street, New Bond Street and Mayfair.

The English poet, painter, and printmaker, William Blake lived on the first floor of 17 South Molton Street between 1803 - 1821. The building is now home to the fabulous specialist coffee shop, Fair Shot.

Why we love South Molton Street

You only need to take a glance of South Molton Street’s Georgian buildings and their elegant facades to see why we love holding our pop up shops here.

And at Christmas, the spectacular festive lights turn it into a truly magical land.

You’ll find Bond Street tube station on the corner of Oxford and South Molton Street which makes accessing our pop up shops super easy.

The area is fast becoming a jewellery district itself with a number of fabulous designers on the street, including Monica Vinadar, Giovanni Raspini, Annoushka Jewellery, JS Jewels, Griffin London and Bernard Delettrez. Jewellery legends Butler and Wilson were also located on South Molton Street until quite recently.

Not only that but South Molton Street is fully pedestrianised so you can amble aimlessly amongst the beautiful shops here without worrying about cars whizzing by. It gives the space a lovely sense of calm.
